Heating Oil and Outdoor Kerosene Tanks

Outdoor fuel tanks face colder temperatures than tanks located inside a basement or utility area. Kerosene remains fluid at lower temperatures, while untreated heating oil can begin to cloud or gel during prolonged cold weather.

Can a different fuel be used?

In some situations, a qualified fuel provider may recommend treated heating oil or a blended product. Additives can help improve cold-weather performance, but the right approach depends on the tank, fuel line, burner, exposure, and local conditions.

Talk with a technician first

Do not switch products based only on general advice. Have the system evaluated and ask T&M Fuel which product and treatment are appropriate for your equipment.
